Creativity and innovation influence more than the arts . . . they are as crucial to medicine as technical knowledge. The new Center for Pediatric Genomic Medicine at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics, headed by Stephen Kingsmore, MD, is an example of creativity at work in the scientific community in Kansas City. The center’s goal is to transform children’s medicine by genomic interpretation.
Join us to meet Kingsmore, an internationally-recognized expert in pediatric genomics, and learn about the incredible strides in medical research and innovation being made right here in our community. Among them is a test that can identify genomic information associated with some 600 severe childhood illnesses. Revolutionary as this test may seem, the center’s leadership and faculty believe it is only the beginning of what is possible.
The America's Creative Crossroads series is offered in partnership with the Kansas City Area Development Council and the Arts Council of Metropolitan Kansas City.
