As a CX member, you can take part in as many programs and activities as you wish. Should you want to become more deeply involved in the organization, you may also serve on a Board Council or committee.

Central Exchange Organization Structure

Central Exchange Board Councils

Members who wish to become more involved in The Central Exchange may do so by participating in Board Councils that typically meet monthly. Meetings days and times are listed in the program section of the website, on the calendar, and on the printed monthly calendar.

Please remember to make a reservation to attend a council or committee meeting just as you would for a regular program.

Finance Council

This council advises on general financial matters. It provides financial control by reviewing monthly results and annual operating and capital budgets.

Generally meets via a conference call within a few days before the board meeting on the third Tuesday of each month.

Membership Council

This Council focuses on the recruitment and retention of members, as well as dues structure, diversity, satisfaction and loyalty.

Generally meets at The CX South at 4:30 p.m. on the third Monday of each month.

Products & Services Council

This Council is charged with creating, implementing and evolving the products and services offered by The Central Exchange.

Generally meets at 4:30 p.m. at The CX downtown on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

Strategic Initiatives Council

A strategic think, this council seeks and evaluates opportunities for organizational growth through new programs, offerings, partnerships and alliances.

Cultural Diversity Committee

This committee serves as a catalyst and resource to increase minority participation in The CX and helps provide programming that highlights ethnic diversity.

Welcome Exchangers

This group helps new members and guests learn the ins and outs of The Central Exchange and works to ensure that program attendees are welcomed and introduced to others. And, as a bonus, Welcome Exchangers meet a wide variety of members and develop networking skills in a friendly, non-threatening environment.

Board of Directors Intern Program
(New in 2008)
CX Board Intern Application

This is a unique opportunity to become involved in The Central Exchange at the Board of Directors level. Five interns will work with Officer level board members in fulfilling the duties of their roles for a period of 12 to 18 months. By working closely with a board officer, interns will receive mentoring, develop leadership skills, and be exposed to the planning, development and implementation of the strategic objectives for The Central Exchange.

Duties:

  • Work with the Officer in fulfilling her role as Chair/Vice Chair of The Central Exchange board. Provide support by:
    • Recording council meeting notes
    • Following up on actions assigned to council members
    • Communicating with council members regarding meeting times
    • Other activities as agreed upon with Chair/Vice Chair
  • Attend and actively participate in monthly Council Meetings
  • Attend Board Meetings as needed
  • Represent Central Exchange and the Council to members, the public and other organizations
  • 12 – 18 month term commitment. Monthly time obligation between 4 - 6 hours

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Efficient time management abilities
  • Ability to build positive working relationships in matrix and team situations
  • Motivated to accomplish tasks and achieve results
